The upcoming "X-Files" series reboot, helmed by "Black Panther" franchise director Ryan Coogler, has announced its new lead duo. Last month, Danielle Deadwyler, known for her role in "Till," was confirmed as the female lead. Today, the production revealed that British Indian actor Himesh Patel has joined as the male lead, forming the new agent partnership with Deadwyler.
However, Patel and Deadwyler will portray original characters, not the iconic Mulder and Scully previously played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Coogler is set to write and direct the pilot episode, in addition to serving as an executive producer for the entire series. Jennifer Yale, who co-wrote for Apple TV+'s "See" and Peacock's "The Copenhagen Test," has been appointed as the showrunner, overseeing the day-to-day production.
The official synopsis for the new "X-Files" describes two accomplished yet disparate FBI agents—one of whom will be portrayed by Deadwyler—assigned to a previously shuttered department that once specialized in investigating paranormal phenomena. As they work together, they forge an unexpected friendship.
