With the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End now wrapped, the results of the third official character popularity poll, held in March, were announced on March 30. Fans were stunned when the initial "total votes" ranking revealed that Genau, a standout from the season's latter half, had snagged the top spot.
But the plot thickened. The very next day, March 31, the organizers dropped a second set of results based on a "one person, one vote" system, completely reshuffling the deck. The rankings saw a massive shake-up, presenting a very different picture from the total votes version. Let's dive into the dramatic changes.
Here are the top ten from the "one person, one vote" poll:
▼ 10th Place: Flamme
Frieren's master didn't even crack the top 30 in the total votes, but she rocketed into the top ten under this system. It's clear that fans still hold a lot of love for her!
▼ 9th Place: Sein
Sein, the priest with a soft spot for older women, leaped from 24th place in the total votes all the way up to 9th. This just goes to show how much the two voting systems can differ, huh?
▼ 8th Place: Übel
After placing 4th in the second poll, Übel only managed 15th in the total votes this time around. However, she still secured a solid 8th place here, proving her popularity holds strong even when she's off-screen.
▼ 7th Place: Genau
The champion of the total votes ranking slid all the way down to 7th place here. It seems a whole lot of ballot-stuffing was responsible for his initial coronation!
▼ 6th Place: Mimic
You'd never guess it! The classic Mimic, which was languishing at 21st in the total votes, made a glorious comeback to 6th place.
▼ 5th Place: Methode
Methode, who showcased her skills during the demon subjugation in the Northern Plateau, skyrocketed from 16th place in the total votes to 5th. This is her highest ranking in an official poll yet—the anime boost is real!
▼ 4th Place: Fern
Fern, who has almost always been a top-three contender, slipped to 8th in the total votes but reclaimed her spot at 4th here, solidifying her popularity.
▼ 3rd Place: Stark
In an incredible turn of events, our boy Stark, who has never cracked the top three before, finally gets his moment of glory! He truly deserves it.
▼ 2nd Place: Himmel
Even Himmel couldn't hold onto his two-time champion title in the "one person, one vote" system. So who could possibly dethrone him?
▼ 1st Place: Frieren
That's right! The grandma herself, who was only 4th in the total votes, has gloriously claimed the crown! She's finally secured her rightful place as the main character.
This poll's outcome was full of surprises, showcasing a massive shift in the rankings. You can compare the final "one person, one vote" results with the "total votes" list below to see just how different they are.
