April 1st is April Fool's Day, and social media across the globe is buzzing with pranks and gags. Many ACG (Anime, Comics, Games) IPs are getting in on the action, interacting with fans through everything from wild, nonsensical fantasies to surprisingly plausible-sounding schemes – and let's be real, they all grab attention on this special day.
Not one to be outdone, the Gundam series dropped a bombshell on its official X account today: a movie trailer for "Celestial Being" (ソレスタルビーイング), complete with a release date of 2314 AD! This epic prank takes an in-universe gag from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie -Awakening of the Trailblazer-" and turns it into a full-blown trailer for this year's April Fool's stunt.
For this year's April Fool's, the official Gundam crew dug deep into the archives, pulling out an in-universe film from the 2010 "Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie -Awakening of the Trailblazer-" – a flick that's now 16 years old and packed with nostalgia for many fans. The newly released trailer revamps and enhances those original scenes, making them even more over-the-top and cinematic.

Fans of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" will definitely recognize this one. It's the "movie-within-a-movie" from the opening of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie -Awakening of the Trailblazer-," which left many first-time viewers scratching their heads. This film, titled "Celestial Being," was what the characters themselves were watching, and its abrupt style had audiences back then chuckling in confusion.
Of course, for hardcore 00 fans, if this "movie-within-a-movie" actually got a full-fledged production, it'd probably be a massive hit, right?
Many netizens who saw the trailer praised the official team for pulling off such a clever April Fool's gag, with plenty wondering, "Who's even going to be around in 2314 to watch this?!"
While it's all in good fun, if this movie actually got made and released, it feels like it would totally blow up the box office... right?!
