Manga artist Hiro Mashima, creator of "FAIRY TAIL" and "RAVE Master," is renowned for his extraordinary work ethic and time management skills.
Late last night (April 7), it was announced that his flagship series, "FAIRY TAIL," is set to receive a brand-new, short-term serialization! This new series is slated to begin in the combined 36th and 37th issues of "Weekly Shonen Magazine," hitting shelves on August 5. This marks the return of the series after a nine-year hiatus since its conclusion in 2017.
This limited serialization is a celebration of "FAIRY TAIL"'s 20th anniversary, and it will once again follow the thrilling new adventures of protagonist Natsu and his crew.
Mashima-sensei himself shared his excitement: "It's truly thanks to the unwavering support of my readers that a series which ended so long ago can still be celebrated like this. We're preparing a ton of new merchandise and events from this year into next, so please look forward to it and let's celebrate the 20th anniversary together! I'm totally fired up!"
In addition, a series of commemorative projects have been unveiled for the 20th anniversary. Hiro Mashima will embark on a signing tour across five Japanese cities (Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, Fukuoka). Concurrently, a "20th Anniversary Commemorative Print Exhibition and Sale" is currently being held in various major cities, featuring and selling new artworks specially created for the event.
The official team also dropped a "FAIRY TAIL" 20th-anniversary commemorative video. The original manga ran in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" from 2006 to 2017, making this year its 20th anniversary.
While the sequel, "FAIRY TAIL: 100 Years Quest," exists, it's a collaboration with Hiro Mashima as the original creator and Atsuo Ueda on art. This new short-term serialization, however, marks Mashima-sensei's direct return to the series after nine years. Fans of the franchise should definitely keep an eye out for what new storylines await!
