Shohei Ohtani's Favorite Pokémon Revealed! Japanese Fans Joke: 'Shouldn't He Pick Garchomp?'

MLB recently asked several of its biggest stars to spill the beans on their favorite Pokémon, and naturally, all eyes were on Los Angeles Dodgers' two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani. His pick? It immediately sent Japanese fans into a frenzy!

The official video showed plenty of stars rocking with first-gen Pokémon. Detroit Tigers' ace lefty Tarik Skubal went with Charizard, while Mets slugger Pete Alonso was all about Blastoise.

But out of all the Pokémon, Shohei Ohtani went with the undisputed icon: Pikachu! Turns out, Pikachu was a massive hit across the board, with tons of MLB stars picking the electric mouse as their top choice.

Once Ohtani's choice dropped, Japanese fans couldn't help but crack up. "Shohei, shouldn't you have gone with Garchomp?" one user quipped. Others speculated that Ohtani probably doesn't care about anything beyond baseball: "He probably only knows Pikachu, seriously."

But the real shocker of the poll? Psyduck! This adorable, goofy fan-favorite somehow didn't snag a single vote from any of the MLB stars. Talk about an upset!
