Japanese actor Takeru Satoh and singer Hikaru Utada recently teamed up for a dream collaboration on YouTube, facing off in a "Tetris Showdown" video on Satoh's personal channel. The highly anticipated event, originally set to premiere on May 9, 2026, at 8 PM JST, saw Satoh himself update his Instagram on May 10, openly admitting his crushing defeat to Utada.

In his post, Satoh confessed, "I battled Hikaru Utada in Tetris and lost. I was no match at all."
He also shared a series of photos, capturing the stark contrast of their reactions. Satoh, clad in a red T-shirt, looked utterly dejected and frowning, while a glasses-wearing Utada celebrated her victory, hands raised high or flashing a triumphant peace sign.

Their connection traces back to the 2022 Netflix series "First Love," which starred Satoh alongside Hikari Mitsushima. The drama was inspired by Utada's iconic 1999 hit "First Love" and her 2018 track "Hatsukoi." Since then, the two have maintained a private friendship, with Satoh even making a guest appearance on Utada's birthday livestream.
It's no secret that Hikaru Utada is a certified "Tetris" legend. Around July 2006, she famously shared on her official blog that she had hit the game's maximum score of 99,999,999.

That same year, Nintendo officially invited her to a promotional event where she absolutely dominated, facing off against 30 Nintendo Club members and "Tetris" developers in "Tetris DS." She walked away with an impressive 31-9 record overall, or 26-4 if you exclude the developers.
After Satoh's post went live, fans flooded the comments, with many cheering him on for a rematch ("Waiting for your revenge!"), praising Utada's skill ("Hikki is seriously too good!"), and marveling at Satoh's rare defeat ("Rare to see Ken-san get owned this badly"). Others simply found the "dream collaboration" adorable, making the showdown an instant hot topic among fans.
