Aoshima Bunka Kyozai Co., Ltd. (Aoshima) in Japan has announced the latest addition to its new "PLAfig." model kit series, which aims for ultimate sculpting precision. The new release, "Rathalos," from the co-op hunting game "Monster Hunter," is slated for release in December 2026.
The Rathalos is arguably the most iconic monster in the "Monster Hunter" series. Measuring over 17 meters in length, its body is covered in crimson scales, and its powerful, massive wings allow for swift flight at high altitudes. Beyond its ferocious nature, Rathalos possesses exceptional combat prowess, capable of unleashing scorching flames from its internal "flame sac" that can reduce anything to ash. Its superior flight capabilities and keen eyesight enable Rathalos to pinpoint prey from above and maintain sustained aerial combat. In the original game, Rathalos dominated the skies, earning it the title "King of the Skies" and becoming a nightmare for many new hunters.
The "PLAfig. Rathalos" model kit is sculpted by the renowned biological model artist Shuzo Kanimushi. This non-articulated model kit captures Rathalos in a dynamic, powerful pose as it unleashes a fireball while airborne, standing approximately 16.5 cm tall and 21 cm wide. All parts are molded in the same deep brown color, featuring precise part separation for easy assembly. The intricate detailing brings a strong sense of biological realism, faithfully reproducing every sharp claw, scale, skin texture, and robust muscle line across its entire body.
Furthermore, a limited edition available exclusively through the official AOSHIMA ONLINE SHOP will include additional clear molded fireball effect parts and mouth flame effect parts, allowing collectors to recreate the iconic fire-breathing scene with the main body.
