Character goods company Gray Parka Service is set to release a new product from "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island": the "Shima Jirō Large Sofubi Figure." This figure fully realizes Shima Jirō's imposing physique and unique "old man" charm from the film. The suggested retail price is 4,950 JPY, and it is scheduled to go on sale on August 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM JST at the official Japanese store "Chiikawa Market." There will be a purchase limit of two per order.
"Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island" marks the first feature film in the "Chiikawa" series, adapting the long-form "Siren Arc" story beloved by fans from the original manga. Shima Jirō is a memorable new character introduced in this arc, serving as the proprietor of the "Shima Jirō" shop that Chiikawa discovers deep within the forest.
This Sofubi figure faithfully recreates Shima Jirō's rotund yet incredibly muscular physique, featuring broad shoulders, bulging arm muscles, clenched fists, and a stable, slightly crouched stance with feet spread apart. His small topknot, sideburns, signature beard, wide-open eyes, and subtle toothy expression are all meticulously preserved, capturing his unique charm that is both imposing and strangely endearing.
Around his waist, Shima Jirō wears a black apron emblazoned with the characters "味自慢" (Ajijiman), meaning "Pride in Our Taste." Details such as the apron's fabric, waistband, and bow are sculpted on the sides and back. Standing approximately 15 cm tall and an impressive 19 cm wide, the figure's horizontally expansive, robust build gives it a powerful presence, allowing Shima Jirō's strong aura to shine whether displayed in a collection cabinet or on a desk.
