Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations, a division renowned for its collectible toys, has officially announced a new addition to its popular "S.H.Figuarts" action figure line: "DARK DEKU" from the hit anime series "My Hero Academia." Pre-orders for North America open today, July 26th, while Japan will see pre-orders launch on July 28th via Tamashii Web Shouten!
The DARK DEKU persona emerges after Izuku Midoriya's intense battle with the Paranormal Liberation Front. Realizing his presence could be tracked by Tomura Shigaraki, thereby endangering U.A. High School, his sanctuary, Deku made the difficult decision to operate alone. This look features his tattered hero costume, complemented by a cape reminiscent of his mentor's classic car. Constantly utilizing Daigoro Banjo's "Blackwhip" Quirk in battle and lacking time for equipment maintenance, Midoriya's appearance during this period takes on a menacing, almost villainous aggression.
The "S.H.Figuarts Dark Deku" stands approximately 14 cm (5.5 inches) tall. Built upon the base body of the "S.H.Figuarts Izuku Midoriya" figure released in 2024, this new release incorporates a significant number of newly sculpted parts. The hip joints have also been adjusted, allowing for his iconic low, leaning forward stance. The figure's primary dark green color perfectly captures the "dark hero" aesthetic of this period.
For accessories, it includes two different masked face parts, along with new interchangeable bangs to recreate his unmasked appearance. Two additional interchangeable face plates are provided: a serious expression and an emotional, tear-streaked face reflecting his reaction to Ochaco Uraraka's heartfelt plea. Furthermore, the figure comes with newly sculpted Blackwhip effect parts, distinct from those included with the "S.H.Figuarts OVERLAY DEKU (Izuku Midoriya)". Combined with three pairs of interchangeable hands, collectors can recreate Dark Deku's powerful and dynamic combat poses!
