The TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company has announced a new addition to its "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, featuring metallic paint finishes and die-cast frames. This latest release, the "Destiny Gundam SpecII Final Battle Ver.," hails from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM." A release date has yet to be determined.
Piloted by Shin Asuka, the ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam SpecII is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after being severely damaged in the previous war. It was then repaired and improved by Morgenroete, Inc. using the latest technology. Enhancements include a cutting-edge all-around monitor cockpit, upgraded joint armor materials, and a significantly improved power system. This substantial increase in energy output also resulted in the VPS armor adopting a deeper, darker hue. While its overall armament configuration remains largely consistent with its predecessor, the suit notably unveiled a new ability during the climactic final battle: the capacity to unleash dozens of "afterimages" for coordinated attacks.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Destiny Gundam SpecII Final Battle Ver." will be based on the previously released standard version, but with significant updates. The entire body's paint scheme has been revamped to a red tone with a diffused, glowing red effect. Furthermore, the die-cast alloy joints in areas like the elbows and knees have been electroplated to replicate the intense red glow seen when the suit unleashes its "afterimages." Based on currently available information, the armament appears to be identical to the standard release. Further product details will be announced at a later date.
