Japan's TAKARA TOMY is officially launching an all-new series under its iconic tomica brand: "tomica custom works". This new line focuses on original, Tomica-designed custom cars, fully licensed by the original auto manufacturers. Embracing the globally renowned Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) tuner culture, the debut wave features two of Japan's most iconic sports cars: the NISSAN SILVIA and the Honda NSX. The launch includes two distinct designs for each model, totaling four unique cars. They are scheduled for release on September 19, 2026, with a suggested retail price of 2,640 JPY (tax included) each.
"tomica custom works" marks the brand's first-ever series of manufacturer-approved, originally customized die-cast models. Using the real cars' silhouettes as a base, Tomica has added original aero kits, custom wheels, and exclusive paint jobs, all centered around a core design philosophy of "widebody and low-down" stances. Unlike typical die-cast cars with fixed appearances, this series allows collectors to actually swap the wheels and adjust the ride height. Depending on the model, you can also operate features like the doors, rear wing, or even pop-up headlights, creating a highly personalized look and feel. It's the entire car modification experience, distilled into the palm-sized world of Tomica.
