Japanese toy and sundries brand YELL is back with a new feline-focused addition to its popular "Nihilistic." series: the "Nihilistic Cat Matoi" Flocked Figure Capsule Toys! This latest release features four distinct cat types – Black, Calico, Gray, and Yellow – each priced at 300 JPY per capsule. Collectors can expect them to hit shelves in July 2026.
The "Nihilistic Cat" series is known for its signature motionless standing pose, vacant eyes staring blankly ahead, and an overall air of simply existing without a care in the world. This new "Matoi" version takes that concept further by adding a soft, flocked finish to the figures. The product concept describes this as a "silent touch, as if absorbing sound," making these already quiet felines appear even fluffier and more comforting.
All four cat variations boast a plump, upright posture with their short limbs tucked neatly against their sides. Their signature blank expressions are perfectly captured with glossy black eyes, tiny pink noses, and delicate whiskers. Each cat – Black, Calico, Gray, and Yellow – sports its unique fur color, with the flocked surface giving their outlines a soft, fuzzy texture. Standing approximately 62mm tall, these figures make a distinct and charming presence whether displayed on a desk or in a collection cabinet.
