The film adaptation of "Children of Blood and Bone," the first novel in Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling "Legacy of Orïsha" fantasy series, recently dropped its first trailer. However, the author, who also contributed to the screenplay, has since publicly disassociated herself from the project, repeatedly issuing statements about her relationship with the film.

Even before the trailer's release, Adeyemi had stated her desire to have no further involvement with the film. Following the trailer's debut, she posted a new video, emotionally recounting the immense pain the film has caused her.

In a powerful video shared online, Adeyemi expressed her profound distress. She stated that she never explicitly detailed her dissatisfaction with the film, only that her grievances were not a secret and had been ongoing for a year and a half. She claimed that those involved in the film's production, especially the core creative team, were well aware of the situation but remained indifferent, and that she continues to be targeted by some behind the scenes. Adeyemi explained that she would not publicly discuss the specifics, but shared that the events after she left the set caused her immense trauma and panic attacks, to the extent that she would never be able to watch the final film.

Adeyemi declared that she made the video to let people know that this film has been the worst experience of her life. She emphasized that she genuinely wishes to avoid discussing the film further, though she's unsure if that will be possible, as a public figure, she anticipates continued inquiries from the media and others. Adeyemi lamented that while posting the video might be futile or even exacerbate the situation, remaining silent would only cause her greater suffering.

Adeyemi did not elaborate on why she couldn't disclose specific details. However, it's widely speculated that she may be bound by a non-disclosure agreement or lacks sufficient actionable evidence to reveal the full story.
