With a staggering $520 million worldwide haul against a shoestring $750,000 production budget, "Obsession" has become one of the year’s most talked-about horror movies. Beyond its historic box-office run, the film has also emerged as a fan favorite. Despite the glowing reception, writer-director Curry Barker still believes "Obsession" could take on a different form through an alternate cut.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Barker revealed that an extended edition of "Obsession" could eventually be released. Looking back at the movie from an editor’s perspective, he said he was already pleased with the existing cut and had shaped it into the version he wanted. While there were scenes he might consider reshooting, he would not change any of the footage currently in the film. Barker added that he would love to release an extended cut that already exists and contains roughly 20 additional minutes. He stressed that the theatrical version remains his director’s cut, since it includes nearly everything he wanted audiences to see, while the alternate edition would simply be labeled an extended cut.
