Directed by Taika Waititi, the filmmaker behind "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Thor: Love and Thunder," "Klara and the Sun"—an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's sci-fi novel of the same name—has fallen far short of expectations. The film has been hammered by the media and critics, earning dismal scores on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. It also opened to just over $700,000 in North America last week, a disastrous result for a reported $44 million production backed by an acclaimed director and an A-list cast.

Waititi has apparently seen plenty of the negative coverage. Early this morning, the director took to Instagram to share an upbeat report highlighting the movie's 78% Rotten Tomatoes audience score. He wrote: "I haven't read reviews aimed at me or my peers for nearly 15 years. But I do pay attention to audiences. So this Halloween, spare a thought for the sad souls who failed to fulfill their dreams of becoming artists and ended up as critics instead. They're the same people who hated 'Jojo Rabbit.' They don't matter. They're out of touch, their views are outdated, and everything they say belongs in the trash."

Waititi's post quickly drew support from several major Hollywood figures, including "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn and Jack Black, all of whom liked the post.
