HIYA Toys, the Chinese toy brand renowned for its EXQUISITE BASIC series of Toho kaiju figures, has announced a new addition from the film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla": the "Super Mechagodzilla" action figure, slated for release in Q2 2027.
The "Super Mechagodzilla" originates from the 1993 film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" (ゴジラvsメカゴジラ). It is the ultimate anti-Godzilla weapon, formed by the combination of Mechagodzilla (メカゴジラ) and the Garuda (ガルーダ) support aircraft. This formidable machine was created through reverse-engineering the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah, salvaged after its defeat in the previous film. Super Mechagodzilla is armed with an impressive arsenal, including the Mega Buster Ray, Laser Cannons, G-Crusher, and Plasma Grenade. In battle, it famously overwhelmed Godzilla, incapacitating the King of the Monsters, only to be ultimately defeated when Godzilla absorbed Rodan's life energy to power a devastating counterattack.
The "EXQUISITE BASIC Super Mechagodzilla" stands approximately 21 cm (8.3 inches) tall, faithfully recreating Mechagodzilla's imposing, heavily armored design. The included Garuda support fighter can be attached to Mechagodzilla's back using interchangeable parts, allowing collectors to display the full "Super Mechagodzilla" configuration. Garuda's twin cannons are fully rotatable for dynamic posing, and the figure also comes with two interchangeable abdominal parts to depict Super Mechagodzilla's devastating firing mode. This release is packed with an extensive array of attack effect parts, which can be plugged in to replicate iconic attacks such as the twin eye destruction rays, mouth laser, Garuda Crusher Cannon, and G-Crusher. Furthermore, a total of eight jet effect parts can be attached to Garuda and the leg thrusters, perfect for recreating flight poses. The figure also includes deployable grapple anchors for its hands, along with a pair of interchangeable hand parts, ensuring that shooting, flying, and close-quarters combat poses can all be easily recreated.
