This summer's biggest blockbuster, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," has already smashed past the $1 billion global box office mark in less than a week since its release, proving to be a formidable force. Beyond its massive commercial success, the film has garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews, with many viewers praising its nuanced storytelling and noting a significant upgrade in action sequence quality compared to the previous three installments. Specifically regarding the action, audiences widely attributed the elevated quality to martial arts superstar Jackie Chan's stunt team, the Jackie Chan Stunt Team. However, director Destin Daniel Cretton (pictured right below) has now clarified that the team's involvement is a misconception.

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Cretton explained that the Jackie Chan Stunt Team was not actually involved in the production of "Brand New Day," though Jackie Chan himself did visit the set. The actual leader of the stunt work was Peng Zhang, who previously trained under the late stunt performer and martial arts choreographer Bradley James Allan. Allan, a fourth-generation member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, also served as the stunt coordinator on Cretton's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," which was Allan's final work before his passing. This layered connection likely led to the public's misunderstanding.
