Good news for Gundam fanatics! BANDAI SPIRITS Japan recently announced that Osaka's very first official Gundam merchandise complex, THE GUNDAM BASE OSAKA, is slated for a grand opening in February 2027.
This marks the first official store to land in Osaka, boasting a massive 371 tsubo (approximately 1,227 square meters) footprint, making it the largest store of its kind in West Japan. The official announcement also teased a slew of events to celebrate this landmark opening in Osaka.
The new store will be located on the 11th floor of LUCUA SOUTH, a commercial complex directly connected to JR Osaka Station. This spot is already a hotbed for various IPs, with a Pokémon Center, Chiikawa, Sanrio, LEGO, and even the upcoming "THE★JOJO WORLD OSAKA" set to open this winter, all converging here in 2026.
Spanning approximately 371 tsubo, this GUNDAM BASE is set to be one of the largest in West Japan. Beyond the beloved Gunpla kits, fans can expect a wide array of Gundam-themed merchandise, including apparel, stationery, lifestyle goods, snacks, and much more.
What's more, the store plans to feature exclusive special exhibits and model assembly experiences that you won't find anywhere else, allowing fans to dive even deeper into the Gundam universe. Officials stated that this new location will become a fresh hub for experiencing the magic of Gundam through three key elements: "Buy, See, Do."
Osaka previously hosted a limited-time event, "THE GUNDAM BASE POP-UP WORLD TOUR in OSAKA," at Daimaru Umeda Store from April to October 2025, coinciding with the Osaka-Kansai World Expo.
Now, Osaka is finally getting a permanent GUNDAM BASE, set to open in February 2027. This is undoubtedly long-awaited news for Gundam enthusiasts in the Kansai region. Future travelers to Osaka will now have another must-visit pilgrimage spot to add to their itinerary!
