Japanese toy manufacturer ULTRA NEW PLANNING (ウルトラニュープランニング) has officially revealed an exciting new capsule toy series based on the classic national anime "Chibi Maruko-chan" – the "Chibi Maruko-chan Grandpa Character Plush Mascot"! This complete set features 5 highly recognizable elder characters from the show, priced at 500 JPY (tax included) per capsule, with an expected release in October 2026.
Created by Momoko Sakura, the classic series "Chibi Maruko-chan" is beloved not just for Maruko and her adorable classmates from Class 3, Grade 4, but also for the indispensable elderly characters who are central to her life. Breaking away from their usual Maruko-centric product lines, ULTRA NEW PLANNING has boldly focused on the show's "grandpa characters" for this release. Their unique appearances and lively expressions have been transformed into portable plush charms, generating significant buzz among fans!
The full lineup includes Maruko's kindest grandpa, Tomozou Sakura; Hanawa's distinguished butler, Hidejii; the shy and easily blushing Mr. Nakano; the energetic and optimistic Grandpa Hamazaki; and Noguchi's grandpa, who also loves comedy performances. Each plush vividly captures their iconic hairstyles and facial expressions.
