Japan's Megahouse toy company, known for its high-end collectible figure series "Ultimate Article" (UA) which emphasizes realistic sculpting and special features, is releasing a new painted finished product to commemorate the 55th anniversary of "Return of Ultraman." This new "Return of Ultraman" figure will retail for 36,080 JPY and is slated for release in February 2027.
First aired in 1971, "Return of Ultraman" is the third installment in the "Ultra Series" and Tsuburaya Productions' first Ultraman production after the passing of Eiji Tsuburaya. The story follows young Hideki Go, who is tragically killed by a monster while attempting to save others. The deeply moved Ultraman Jack merges with him, and Go subsequently joins the MAT defense team, battling fierce monsters and evolving into a true hero dedicated to protecting Earth.
This Ultimate Article "Return of Ultraman" figure stands approximately 40 cm tall. Its iconic appearance from the series is faithfully recreated under the meticulous supervision of Tsuburaya Productions' LSS (Light Sculpture Studio) sculpting department. The helmet sculpt precisely captures the golden ratio of the face, reproducing the unique body shape and suit patterns seen in the early episodes. Every detail, from the suit's lines to its wrinkles, is meticulously and realistically rendered. The figure includes a swappable left arm part featuring the Ultra Bracelet weapon, as seen in Episode 18, providing enhanced display versatility. The base also comes with two types of stickers—the series logo and a signature—allowing collectors to customize their display.
As expected from the Ultimate Article series, this figure boasts impressive sound and light effects! Activating the base switch to ON1 triggers the transformation sound effect, illuminating Ultraman's yellow eyes and the blue light of his Color Timer, followed by the iconic background music. Switching to ON2 causes the Color Timer to flash red, accompanied by a pulsating timer sound for approximately 20 seconds, culminating in the powerful Spacium Beam sound effect. Collectors can enjoy a multi-layered, immersive experience by simply toggling the switch!
