SEGA Prize, a division of Japan's SEGA Games, has announced an exciting new addition to its high-end Luminasta prize figure series: a Motoko Kusanagi figure from the popular TV anime series "Ghost in the Shell"! The reveal came via an early look at their 2027 lineup on the official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The TV anime series "Ghost in the Shell" (Japanese: 攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL), which premiered in July, is an adaptation of Masamune Shirow's eponymous manga, first serialized in 1989. Produced by Science SARU, the series follows Major Kusanagi and Public Security Section 9 as they navigate a near-future Japan in 2029.
This Luminasta Motoko Kusanagi figure captures the Major in a powerful, mid-air leaping pose, poised to fire her weapon. The sculpt meticulously recreates her iconic facial features and flowing hair, while expertly detailing her lithe physique and the intricate wrinkles of her form-fitting suit. The yellow sections of her jumpsuit feature a glossy paint finish, creating a striking visual contrast with the matte texture of other areas, perfectly conveying Major Kusanagi's dynamic and impactful presence.
