To celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of its legendary Japanese horror game series, KOEI TECMO GAMES has officially announced a monumental commemorative collectible that will thrill countless veteran players: the "Fatal Frame 25th Anniversary 'Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly' Camera Obscura Prop Replica Special Set"! Pre-orders for this made-to-order item are scheduled to open from September 11 to November 23, 2026.
The classic Japanese horror series "Fatal Frame", which first debuted in December 2001, is now celebrating its 25th anniversary. In "Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly," widely considered the pinnacle of the series and set in the lost Minakami Village, sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura rely on a single weapon to exorcise spirits: the ancient camera known as the Camera Obscura, capable of capturing and sealing away supernatural entities. For the first time ever, official developers are bringing this iconic item to life as a prop replica, meticulously recreating its substantial, handheld scale. The replica boasts a vintage brass-like body texture, a detailed focusing lens, and intricate mechanical dial structures. Just holding it in your hands promises to evoke the chilling, eerie atmosphere of the game!
This "Special Set" comes packed with rich content. In addition to the Camera Obscura prop itself, it includes an instruction manual penned by its very inventor, Dr. Kunihiko Asou, along with a set of antique-style photo cards that exude an ancient, unsettling vibe. Official previews also reveal the entire package will arrive in a high-quality Japanese wooden box! However, the official announcement humorously offers a "friendly reminder": this product is purely a display model and does not include the in-game exorcism film, so please don't try to use it to battle vengeful spirits in real life!
