Good Smile Company, the renowned Japanese manufacturer behind the popular Q-version articulated figure line Nendoroid, has announced its latest release: Nendoroid Akiyama Mio 2.0 from the hit anime series "K-ON!". This new figure is priced at 6,500 JPY (tax included) and is slated for release in February 2027.
Akiyama Mio serves as the bassist and backing vocalist (occasionally lead vocalist) for the light music club's band, "After School Tea Time." Alongside club president Ritsu Tainaka, she was one of the original founding members. Mio is characterized by her tall, cool demeanor, long black hair, and a significant fanbase at school. Despite her outward appearance, she is actually quite shy, easily embarrassed, and possesses a hidden girlish charm, often finding herself the target of playful teasing within the group. A rare left-handed musician, her beloved bass guitar is named "Elizabeth." She is known for writing lyrics that are often overly sentimental and cute. During the band's very first performance at the school festival, an unexpected mishap led to the infamous "blue and white bowl incident," a moment well-known among anime fans.
Standing approximately 10 cm tall, Nendoroid Akiyama Mio 2.0 is the second "K-ON!" Nendoroid 2.0 release, following Nendoroid Yui Hirasawa 2.0. This updated version arrives 17 years after the original 1.0 release (2009), featuring Mio in her classic school uniform, perfectly capturing her cool yet adorable aesthetic. The figure includes three interchangeable face plates: a classic "smiling face," a blushing "tearful face" for her easily embarrassed moments, and a "crying face" for when she's being playfully tormented. Accessories include her left-handed bass, "Elizabeth," and the vintage film camera often seen in the series. Collectors can display her alongside Nendoroid Yui Hirasawa 2.0, and anticipation is high for a full 2.0 lineup of the entire band!
