David Corenswet, who achieved a career breakthrough last year starring in DC's new "Superman" film, will temporarily shed his red cape later this year. He's set to dive into the drama genre with "Mr. Irrelevant," an inspiring sports film based on a true story. The movie recently dropped its first trailer and a new promotional poster (pictured below).
"Mr. Irrelevant" chronicles the remarkable journey of the late NFL star John Tuggle. Tuggle was the very last player selected in the final round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Both on and off the field, Tuggle defied all expectations, earning the respect of his first-year head coach, his girlfriend, and the entire team. Even after a cancer diagnosis, he continued to fight during the final years of his life, inspiring everyone around him.

Jonathan Levine, known for directing comedies like "50/50" and "Warm Bodies," helms "Mr. Irrelevant." The screenplay comes from Nick Santora, the showrunner behind Amazon's "Reacher" series. Alongside Corenswet, the cast features Isabel May, Michael Shannon as legendary New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells, David Krumholtz, and Tandi Wright, among others. The film is slated for a Christmas Day release in North America on December 25.
