Japanese game giant CAPCOM surprised attendees at its booth at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 (TGS2026), which opened today at Makuhari Messe, with a highly-anticipated, non-commercial special exhibit: the "1:1 Rock Buster Pursuing the Ultimate Blue" (究極の青を追求した1/1スケールロックバスター). This life-sized project is not a mass-produced toy or merchandise item, but rather a cross-industry collaboration between CAPCOM and the Osaka-based manufacturing alliance "FactorISM," leveraging a classic game IP to showcase Japan's top-tier manufacturing technology. It brings Rockman's most iconic arm cannon to life with unique metal craftsmanship.

The shaping and processing of this 1:1 life-sized exhibit was handled by M's Corporation (株式会社エムズコーポレーション), an Osaka-based company specializing in prototype development. The team overcame the challenge of machining curved surfaces, which are notoriously difficult with metal. Using state-of-the-art equipment, they achieved high-precision turning with "less than 1 micrometer error" from a single block of solid aluminum, sculpting the smooth, full lines of the cannon body. For the exterior coloring, Denken Co., Ltd. (有限会社電研), a long-established plating factory in Osaka's Ikuno Ward, took charge. Artisans specially formulated exclusive dyes from scratch and applied anodic oxidation coloring using a unique chrome-free electrolytic polishing technique. This allowed the deep, pure "Ultimate Blue" to directly permeate the metal surface, creating a profound metallic luster that is unparalleled by conventional painting and will never peel off.

Displayed in a transparent case at the exhibition, the Rock Buster not only boasts dazzling metallic luster, but also meticulously recreates details like the red muzzle at the front and the charge indicator lights on the side. It exudes a heavy industrial quality, as if fresh from the factory. Although the official statement clearly indicates this item is a non-commercial special exhibit for technical demonstration purposes, with no plans for commercial sale, it was displayed alongside a playable demo of the 40th-anniversary series new title, "Rockman: Dual Override" (ロックマン: デュアル オーバーライド), set for release in 2027. This still drew large crowds of attendees eager to photograph it, making it the most eye-catching craftsmanship highlight at CAPCOM's TGS booth this year!
