At the ongoing TGS2026 (Tokyo Game Show 2026) in Chiba's Makuhari Messe, SONY Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is showcasing the highly anticipated new adult LEGO set, LEGO 72306 PlayStation, at the PlayStation booth in Hall 6. This brick model of the original console, set to release in October, was captured by Japanese media HOBBY Watch, which published several photos of the physical sample, giving fans a sneak peek at the authentic feel and internal workings of this 90s gray console replica.
We've previously introduced this officially licensed LEGO set, which uses 1,911 brick pieces to construct a nearly 1:1 scale replica of the original console and its dedicated controller. Beyond the functional controller ports, the front eject (Open) and power (Power) buttons are designed with a spring-loaded mechanism for tactile feedback. Inside the disc tray, miniature game scenes are cleverly stored, paying tribute to PlayStation's legendary history.
Exhibition photos from the event reveal the console displayed with its disc cover open, showcasing intricately detailed miniature scenes inside. These include a miniature racetrack from 1997's "Gran Turismo" and a Pipo Monkey, complete with its classic siren helmet, from 1999's "Ape Escape". Both miniature scenes can be removed from the console and displayed independently. Under the exhibition lights, the gray brick casing and button proportions perfectly recreate the original console's silhouette. The LEGO 72306 PlayStation is scheduled for official release on October 4, 2026, with LEGO Insiders members getting early access on October 1. Gamers attending TGS are encouraged to visit the SIE booth to experience this full-size, nostalgic masterpiece firsthand.
