Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the "Scream" slasher franchise remains a box-office force. Although "Scream 7" drew a mixed critical response after opening earlier this year, it became the highest-grossing installment in the series to date, earning more than $200 million worldwide. With those numbers, distributor Paramount Pictures and production company Spyglass wasted little time moving ahead with an eighth film in April. At the time, however, there was no official word on whether original final girl Neve Campbell would return as Sidney Prescott for another encounter with Ghostface.

Campbell has now confirmed her involvement during a recent interview with the Associated Press. “You know I can't tell you anything about ‘Scream 8,’” she said. “I'll be in it.” Fellow franchise mainstay Courteney Cox is also widely expected to return as Gale Weathers. After all, Cox has an even stronger attendance record than Campbell, having appeared in all seven movies to date.
"Scream 8" has yet to announce a director or release date, but "Poker Face" creators and sisters Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman have been tapped to write the screenplay.
