BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS has officially announced the upcoming release of the "EVANGELION Custom Unit-08γ" from the final chapter, "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," joining their highly popular ROBOT Damashii line of articulated robot figures. This new entry is slated for a January 2022 release.
Piloted by Mari Makinami Illustrious, the EVANGELION Custom Unit-08γ carries the full designation of "General-Purpose Humanoid Decisive Weapon Artificial Human Evangelion Custom Unit-08γ: Ultra-Extreme Space Application Special Equipment Add-on Possible Type, Temporary Arm Reinforcement Specification." In contrast to the "Unit-08β Temporary Battle Form" seen in the opening Paris sequence, which utilized mechanical arms as prosthetics, Unit-08γ features largely repaired arms. However, it still incorporates power-assist systems resembling mechanical exoskeletons. Its back is equipped with the "DRAGON CARRIER," a large weapon container housing various armaments.
The "ROBOT Damashii EVANGELION Custom Unit-08γ" meticulously recreates its on-screen appearance at a height of 17 cm. The figure boasts highly articulated joints throughout its body, with a newly designed hip joint mechanism that allows for incredibly dynamic kicking poses. Accessories include multiple interchangeable hand parts, fully repaired arm sections, the striking unrestrained head, and a halo effect part for its back. However, the only weapon included is its signature long whip.
