New LEGO® Certified Store Opens in Hsinchu, Featuring 100,000-Brick Mosaic and a Life-Size Gogoro Scooter Model

The LEGO Group, in partnership with the MSY Group, is expanding its retail footprint with a brand new LEGO® Certified Store, set to officially open tomorrow (Oct. 6th) in the Hsinchu SOGO Department Store. The new location will bring the unique digital technology and interactive experiences of LEGO Certified Stores to fans in Hsinchu, offering a fresh and engaging destination for families and builders of all ages!

The Hsinchu store features a stunning "Windy City Mosaic Wall," constructed from 100,000 bricks over the course of a month, depicting the city's famous powerful winds and local landmarks. Furthermore, reflecting Hsinchu's rising arts and design scene, LEGO Taiwan has also brought in a unique 1:1 scale Gogoro 1 3D Model. Created by a Danish design team and inspired by Taiwan's "Scooter Kingdom" reputation, the model champions environmental sustainability and building a better world for the next generation.

"Windy City" Mosaic and a 1:1 Scale Gogoro 1 3D Model from Denmark Create New Must-See Photo Ops

Embracing a mission to celebrate local culture, MSY Group and LEGO® Taiwan commissioned Taiwan's only LEGO Certified Professional, Huang Yen-Chih, to create the "Hsinchu Windy City Mosaic Wall" for the new store. Using nearly 100,000 bricks, the project took one month from design to completion. Inspired by Hsinchu's strong seasonal monsoons and iconic landmarks, the mosaic uses the lively expressions and poses of LEGO minifigures to cleverly capture the city's "Windy City" nickname. The artwork also incorporates famous sights like the clock tower at Nanliao Fishing Port—home of the city's kite festival—and the historic East Gate (Yingxi Men), encapsulating local flavor and kicking off a new wave of LEGO excitement in Hsinchu.

In a nod to Hsinchu's recent growth in the design sector, the LEGO Group's Danish design team was specially invited to create a globally unique 1:1 scale Gogoro 1 3D Model. Inspired by Taiwan's "Scooter Kingdom" status and the global push for sustainability, the model was air-freighted directly to Taiwan. Featuring Gogoro's classic startup sound and highly recognizable headlights, the Danish team used a total of 63,014 bricks to perfectly replicate the smart electric scooter, symbolizing the ongoing effort to build a friendly environment for future generations.
