Following their previous "Tomie" release, sculptor Animegami Studios has unveiled a new addition to their "JUNJI ITŌ COLLECTION" series: the 1/6 scale full-body statue of Souichi! This release will include an EX Version, a Manga Version, and a Combo Version that features both, with an estimated shipping date in Q4 2022.
Souichi is one of the most popular characters from Junji Ito's terrifying imagination. He's a cunning, eccentric, and arrogant young boy, famously known for constantly holding iron nails in his mouth. Souichi appears to possess supernatural abilities, often using "Ushi no toki mairi" (ox-hour ritual) and curses to torment others. However, stories featuring Souichi frequently include amusing instances of poetic justice, such as his mouth being pierced by nails, suffering from an upset stomach after eating too much snow, or having his pants pulled down by a doll teacher, exposing his backside in public.
This 1/6 scale Souichi statue stands approximately 26 cm tall and depicts a scene from the manga's "Souichi's Selfish Curse" chapter, showing Souichi performing a ritual in the woods. The figure meticulously recreates his diamond-patterned long-sleeve shirt, the candle tied to his head, and the doll and hammer in his hands. Souichi's gloomy expression, greasy hair, and dark eye circles are all faithfully rendered. The cedar forest base is packed with story elements, including the head of Kuroda-kun, who is under a "hibernation curse," a hibernating frog, and the curse-dolls. Best of all, the candle features an LED light-up function, creating an even more intense and eerie atmosphere when illuminated.
