Kotobukiya, the renowned Japanese model kit manufacturer, recently announced the upcoming release of "Variable Frame System 01 GARUDA GEAR "Beluga"" in May 2022. This latest addition is part of their "M.S.G" (Modeling Support Goods) series, developed specifically for modelers looking to enhance their creations.
The "Variable Frame System" introduces a brand-new transformable frame structure. Its joints utilize a standardized 5mm peg-and-hole connection, ensuring robust strength, multi-directional articulation, and a complete transformation mechanism. Additionally, various 3mm hardpoints are integrated throughout the frame, allowing for flexible customization and expansion with separately sold weapon parts.
The first entry in this innovative line, "GARUDA GEAR "Beluga"," is an original mecha featuring sleek white armor and a streamlined design. It boasts a complete transformation from its robot mode to a dynamic fighter mode. The main body is composed of two distinct layers—armor and frame—allowing for easy removal and swapping of armor parts. In robot mode, the unit can wield a rifle weapon and deploy a laser sword from a hidden storage mechanism in its wrist. When transformed into fighter mode, the main wings can be configured into either swept-back or forward-swept positions, and a built-in machine gun can be deployed from beneath the nose.
