From China, officially licensed statue and collectible brand HEX Collectibles is set to release a stunning 1/6 scale diorama statue based on the classic anime "Hikaru no Go." Titled "Hikaru Shindo & Fujiwara no Sai: The Hand of God," this piece was originally available for pre-order in December 2021, with an estimated shipping date in Q4 2022.
"Hikaru no Go" protagonist Hikaru Shindo was just an ordinary, somewhat clueless sixth-grader until he stumbled upon an ancient Go board in his grandfather's attic. The board, stained with the blood of the legendary Go player Torajirō, was home to the ghost of ancient Go master Fujiwara no Sai. At Sai's earnest plea, Hikaru agreed to help fulfill Sai's millennium-long desire to play Go again, thus drawing Hikaru into the profound world of the game and ultimately realizing Sai's cherished wish.
Specially released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the "Hikaru no Go" anime, the "Hikaru Shindo & Fujiwara no Sai: The Hand of God" 1/6 scale diorama statue brings to life the iconic scene of Sai guiding Hikaru from behind as Hikaru plays Go with a black stone. Standing nearly 52 cm tall, the statue meticulously recreates the distinct features of both characters. Hikaru sports his signature black hair with yellow bangs and his "5" T-shirt, his determined expression and posture conveying a hint of youthful awkwardness. Sai's white kariginu robes flow gracefully, his tall eboshi hat topped with the ethereal veil he wore upon his first appearance, and a bat fan in hand, all contributing to his light, ghostly presence.
▼Based on the currently released product photos, some fans have noted that the facial sculpt and paintwork don't quite capture the original character's essence.

Beyond the two main characters, significant attention has been paid to the base and surrounding diorama elements. The Go board is meticulously detailed, faithfully reproducing its intricate wooden texture, while the Go stones mid-game are cleverly rendered. Furthermore, the Japanese-style landscaping at the base, featuring pine trees, a traditional paper umbrella, and flowing bamboo water, is all realistically depicted, vividly bringing the world of "Hikaru no Go" to life.
