The "NIJISANJI Character Figure Collection," a collaborative blind box series from Japan's ABEMA Shopping and the massive Virtual Liver group NIJISANJI, has been a huge hit since its debut in April 2021. Recently, the company not only unveiled details for the latest 3rd wave but also announced a re-release of the popular 1st wave and teased the character lineups for the upcoming 4th and 5th waves.
Established in 2018 by Japan's ANYCOLOR Inc., the Virtual Liver group NIJISANJI (often simply called "NIJISANJI") is renowned for its high degree of freedom and diverse styles, having expanded its reach to Korea, India, Indonesia, and English-speaking regions. Starting with Tsukino Mito, the domestic Japanese roster now boasts over 100 Virtual Livers from various fields such as gaming, music, medicine, and education. Each member possesses unique personalities, interests, and dreams, and through collaboration, interaction, and even friendly friction, they create an infinite spectrum of possibilities, much like a rainbow.
The free online concert "NJU Kayousai 2021," held on December 31, 2021, featured many never-before-seen combinations of performers, attracting approximately 170,000 concurrent viewers.
Each figure in the "NIJISANJI Character Figure Collection" is personally supervised by the VTubers themselves, transforming popular NIJISANJI Livers into adorable chibi-style designs. These collector-friendly figures stand at approximately 5cm tall, with each wave featuring 2-3 different outfit variations. The neck and shoulders are articulated, and each box also includes a background card designed to recreate a "press conference" scene.
The recently announced third wave lineup includes four popular Livers: Ibrahim, Ex Albio, Kanae, and Kuzuha. Each is available in two variations: their "standard outfit" and a "street-style outfit," with a scheduled release in late May 2022. Additionally, the ABEMA Shopping official website offers a special bundle of "4 chosen figures + 1 random special character version," allowing collectors to acquire a special NIJISANJI T-shirt variant.
Meanwhile, the upcoming 4th wave is slated to feature Kaida Haru, Genzuki Tojiro, Dola, Nagao Kei, and Honma Himawari. The 5th wave will include five VTubers: Sasaki Saku, Shiina Yuika, Hanabatake Chaika, Yashiro Kizuku, and Yorumi Rena, with release dates yet to be announced. If your favorite VTuber is making an appearance, it's time to get your wallets ready!
