Max Factory, the renowned Japanese toy company behind the highly diverse and popular "PLAMAX" model kit brand, today announced the upcoming release of the latest entry in their "Mashin Hero Wataru" series: the "Dark Steel Armor Genoumaru," slated for a June 2022 launch.
The Dark Steel Armor originates from the 1989 "Mashin Daishugo" model kit series by TAKARA, part of the "Mashin Hero Wataru" line, and its tie-in manga spin-off, "Mashin Hero Wataru: Makai Totsunyu Monogatari." In this story, Wataru Ikusabe, Toraoh, and their companions journey to the Demon World with the Emperor Dragon to retrieve the four treasures of the Shinbu World. Influenced by Wataru's "Maximum Demon-Attracting Power," the Emperor Dragon transforms into its "Kageki Steel" form, enveloped in a dark glow. Its body can then separate into the Dark Steel Armor, which can be equipped by Mashins like Ryujinmaru and Jakomaru.
The "PLAMAX MS-20 Dark Steel Armor Genoumaru" is based on the previously released standard version. This new iteration features the Dark Steel Armor rendered with a special black plating, giving it a striking, subdued metallic sheen. The Genoumaru's main body also receives a new molded color scheme to match the Dark Steel Armor, replicating the colors of the original 1989 "Plaction Steel Armor Genoumaru" kit.
Furthermore, the kit includes the necessary frame parts to recreate the "Dark Steel Emperor Dragon." By utilizing the separately sold Dark Steel Armor parts from the PLAMAX Dark Steel Armor Ryujinmaru, Dark Steel Armor Jakomaru, Dark Steel Armor Kuoumaru, and Dark Steel Armor Senjinmaru, collectors can assemble a complete Dark Steel Emperor Dragon!
