Following the success of TAMOTU, Japanese model kit manufacturer Kotobukiya recently announced new additions to their "MARUTTOYS" original robot series, a collaboration with sculptor MiZ (Kouki Mizuno). The "TAMOTU PRO [Midnight Blue]" and "TAMOTU PRO [Cool White]" model kits are slated for release in May 2022.
Within the "MARUTTOYS" lore, the TAMOTU PRO represents a high-performance upgrade of the standard TAMOTU unit. Its motors, sensors, and power supply have all been enhanced, and it comes with additional optional accessories to expand its functionality. For instance, the new "Leg Unit" allows it to traverse diverse terrains, while the "Arm Unit," equipped with more powerful motors than standard arms, offers superior strength. The PRO models also feature luxurious metallic frames and sophisticated, elegant shell colors, befitting their advanced designation.
The "TAMOTU PRO Midnight Blue / Cool White Model Kits" are molded in four distinct colors. Once assembled, each stands approximately 84mm tall, boasting 40 points of articulation and 15 expansion ports for 3mm joints. The kits meticulously recreate the internal frame structure of both the main body and its expansion units, which can be freely detached. Furthermore, a transformation mechanism allows the TAMOTU PRO to switch between three distinct modes: "Normal," "Off-Road," and "Work."
