Following the successful first and second waves of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" themed releases, BANDAI CANDY, the confectionery division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., is set to launch the latest third volume of its "Twinkle Dolly" series on January 12, 2022!
The "Twinkle Dolly Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Charms" reimagine the series' characters in an adorable, chibi-style at approximately 4-5 cm tall, presented in a seated pose. Each charm's base is uniquely designed, drawing inspiration from Nichirin Blade handguards or iconic items associated with the character, such as Nezuko's wooden box or Inosuke's boar mask. This third wave features a total of five characters: Kamado Tanjiro, Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyojuro, Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen, Mist Hashira Tokito Muichiro, and Wind Hashira Shinazugawa Sanemi.
▼ Let's take a look at the packaging! The front clearly displays the charm itself, along with the "Twinkle Dolly" series name and the number "3" to denote the third volume. The artwork evokes a sense of characters appearing as if sliding open a door! The back showcases all five designs included in this third wave. Plus, the window box packaging offers a great option for displaying the charms without even opening them.
● Kamado Tanjiro ●
Tanjiro, who appeared in both the first and second volumes, returns here in his outfit from the Demon Slayer Corps' entrance exam, the Final Selection. This charm faithfully recreates his cloud-patterned light blue haori, the scar on his left forehead, and his Hanafuda earrings. His base is designed after the Wardrobe Mask.
● Rengoku Kyojuro ●
Next up is the Flame Hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro. This design features him in a cross-legged, seated pose with his arms folded across his chest, radiating a bright, positive aura with his cheerful and bold smile. His iconic red and yellow hair and haori are also faithfully reproduced. The base is shaped like the flame-patterned tsuba (handguard) of his Nichirin Blade.
● Uzui Tengen ●
Then we have the self-proclaimed God of Festivities and flamboyant Sound Hashira, Uzui Tengen. Due to the chibi proportions, his diamond-studded headpiece and the red floral makeup around his left eye become even more striking! His confident smile, golden arm rings, and the "滅" (Destroy) kanji on the back of his uniform are all accurately rendered. Compared to the previous two, his seated pose exudes a distinct swagger. The base is designed after the three-colored tsuba of his Nichirin Blade.
● Tokito Muichiro ●
Following him is the prodigious Mist Hashira, Tokito Muichiro, who became a Hashira just two months after picking up a sword. This piece perfectly captures his seemingly indifferent (or rather, forgetful) demeanor towards his surroundings, along with his hazy, distant gaze – he looks completely lost in thought! The base features a beautiful golden tsuba.
● Shinazugawa Sanemi ●
Finally, we have the Wind Hashira, Shinazugawa Sanemi, who appears to be the most ferocious among the nine Hashira. In this chibi interpretation, Sanemi's fierce demeanor takes on a more mischievous, "king of the kids" vibe, making him surprisingly adorable! Not only are the scars on his face and chest meticulously sculpted, but his spiky hairstyle is also well-reproduced. The base is designed after the eight-pointed star-shaped tsuba of his Nichirin Blade.
