Hong Kong-based toy company Storm Collectibles, renowned for its extensive line of articulated figures based on fighting game characters, is set to release an articulated action figure of Akira Yuki, the protagonist from SEGA's iconic 3D fighting game, "Virtua Fighter"! This highly anticipated collectible is scheduled for release in Q3 2022.
"Virtua Fighter" first debuted in arcades in 1993. Developed by Yu Suzuki, the game is widely regarded as a pioneer in 3D fighting games, sparking a polygon graphics craze. As the game's protagonist, Akira Yuki commands a powerful presence, utilizing the martial art of Bājíquán. His famous moves, such as the "Yōhō" (Upward Cannon), "Rimon Chōchū" (Rear Mountain Elbow), and "Tesshōkō" (Iron Mountain Lean), are instantly recognizable to players.
This Akira Yuki figure from Storm Collectibles is based on his appearance from "Virtua Fighter 5". He's depicted in his iconic gray and white dojo uniform, complete with his headband and powerfully sculpted, muscular arms. For accessories, the figure includes three interchangeable head sculpts: one neutral expression and two shouting expressions. Additionally, five pairs of interchangeable hands are provided. Rounding out the set are impact effect parts, designed to emphasize his powerful strikes.
