Dark Horse Direct, the collectibles brand from Dark Horse Comics, has once again partnered with Legendary Entertainment to unveil a new statue from the sci-fi epic "Dune." Following their "Sandworm Bookend," which grows larger the more books you add, they've now revealed the stunning "Royal Ornithopter" statue! Shipping is estimated for September to November 2022.
This piece stands approximately 10.8 cm tall and measures 37 cm long. Crafted from polyresin, the entire prototype, sculpting, and paintwork were handled by the acclaimed American statue manufacturer Gentle Giant. It faithfully recreates the Ornithopter's distinctive, dragonfly-like design, with finely detailed, highly present vibrating wing blades. Mechanisms like the ball joints and landing gear are also excellently rendered. The paint application, featuring a weathered, sand-swept look, perfectly complements the Arrakis desert environment base. Furthermore, the House Atreides emblem on the side of the fuselage is meticulously reproduced. It's incredibly cool!
