The massive figure line, the "Gigantic Series," developed by Japanese toy maker PLEX and distributed by X-PLUS, has unveiled its newest character from "Dragon Ball Z"! This time, it's none other than Goku's father, Bardock (バーダック), who is set to join the lineup! The release is slated for June 2022.
Bardock, who first appeared in the 1990 TV special "Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku," is the father of the series' protagonist, Goku, and bears a striking resemblance to him. Originally a low-class Saiyan warrior serving under Frieza (フリーザ), his power level grew to exceed 10,000 through repeated near-death battles and recoveries (a Saiyan ability that dramatically increases their power after healing from critical injuries). After gaining the ability to see the future, he uncovered Frieza's plot to annihilate the Saiyan race. He chose to challenge the tyrant alone but was ultimately overwhelmed by Frieza's immense power, entrusting his vengeful will to his son, Goku.
This new Bardock figure from X-PLUS stays true to the line's massive scale, standing at an impressive 40cm (approx. 15.7 inches) tall. The sculpt is based on his final, desperate stand from the 1990 TV special, depicting the moment he broke through Frieza's forces to confront the tyrant in front of his spaceship. Bardock is covered in wounds, his armor shattered and broken. With energy gathering in his right hand, he prepares to unleash his final attack. This vinyl figure perfectly captures that iconic scene, making it a must-have for any Dragon Ball fan.
