Japan's Kotobukiya has announced the upcoming release of "C-REX-11 C-REX," the latest addition to their new entry-level assembly model kit series, "EVOROIDS," slated for an October 2022 launch.
The "EVOROIDS" line is a brand-new robot assembly model kit series designed for ages 8 and up. It brings together mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, manga artist Koichi Tokita, and toy design/planning company ASTRAYS, carrying on the legacy of the 1980s "OMOROID" toy series, which both Okawara and Tokita also contributed to. The featured mecha boast a squat, super-deformed design, making them significantly easier to assemble than previous Kotobukiya products. Each unit can transform into two distinct forms.
The newly released "C-REX" represents the noisy minions of the EVOBEAST army, serving as underlings to the previously released E-REX. Key differences include a color change from red to green armor, and the removal of the curved horns on either side of the head, further emphasizing its grunt-like appearance.
The core of the unit is constructed from numerous simple yet practical 3mm standard connection parts, allowing for easy assembly once the armor is attached. It can fully transform from its robot mode into a Tyrannosaurus form. Furthermore, it boasts Kotobukiya's signature high level of parts interchangeability, utilizing a wide array of 3mm universal pegs and connection joints. This allows for extensive customization with other Kotobukiya model kit series like M.S.G (Modeling Support Goods), Frame Arms, HEXA GEAR, and more, enabling collectors to add cool new weapons or even create entirely unique custom mecha!
