Bandai Gashapon Unveils New "Gundam Mechanical Bust" Capsule Toy Series, Kicking Off with the ν Gundam!

Bandai's Gashapon capsule toy brand last month teased three new "Mobile Suit Gundam" series for 2022, generating significant buzz and anticipation. Today, one of these new lines was officially unveiled as the "Gundam Mechanical Bust" series, with the prototype for its inaugural release, the ν Gundam, revealed. A release date has not yet been announced.

With the full-scale ν Gundam statue recently unveiled in Fukuoka, Japan, new ν Gundam merchandise has been plentiful this year, further cementing the high popularity of Amuro Ray's iconic mobile suit from "Char's Counterattack." This upcoming bust features several design variations compared to previous iterations, showcasing layered armor panel lines and, most notably, significantly reduced armor coverage.

Large sections of the outer armor, including the top of the chest and sides of the waist, have been removed, exposing intricate internal piping and hydraulic cylinders to emphasize the "Mechanical" theme. Standing at nearly 10 cm tall (roughly the height of four 10-yen coins stacked), this is a remarkably large item for a capsule toy.

The product will be divided into three types of parts: "Internal Frame," "Outer Armor," and "Light-Up Unit." While the bust can be assembled with just the outer armor and its dedicated stand, the complete form, featuring the internal frame and light-up unit, will fully showcase its intricate mechanical details and allow for light-up eyes and chest sensors!

The capsule toy lineup includes 3 types:
1. ν Gundam Outer Armor (Standard Color)
2. ν Gundam Outer Armor (Clear Color)
3. ν Gundam Internal Frame (with Light-Up Unit)

Gundam Mechanical Bust ν Gundam (tentative name)
