Bandai Co., Ltd. is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its "Bikkura? Tamago" bath bomb toy series. To mark the occasion, the company announced a new collaboration with the "Gunpla" model kit line: the "ENTRY GRADE Strike Gundam & Mini Gunpla GINN/ZONO," slated for release on July 11, 2022.
The "Bikkura? Tamago" series can be thought of as a bath bomb version of capsule toys. The unique appeal lies in dissolving the outer bath agent in water to reveal a hidden small toy inside. While most products in the series target younger audiences with franchises like Anpanman, Pokémon, Doraemon, Pretty Cure, and various Tokusatsu heroes, recent years have seen broader collaborations with themes popular among adult collectors, such as this Gunpla release.
This product will be sold in two variations of the Strike Gundam model: the "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam (Deactive Mode)" and the "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam (Grand Slam Equipped)." Each version will randomly include a bath bomb containing either a "Mini Gunpla GINN" or a "Mini Gunpla ZONO."
The ENTRY GRADE Strike Gundam, which we've covered before, is an entry-level Gunpla known for its low part count and excellent color separation, allowing builders to easily complete this impressive mobile suit without any tools. This release introduces a new color variant representing the PS armor in its deactive mode, as well as a version equipped with the popular "GRAND SLAM" giant sword.
The GINN and ZONO are miniature Gunpla, standing at just 3 cm tall, each available in two different molded color variations. Utilizing a technique previously employed by Bandai's Gashapon capsule toy brand, the parts runners are molded into a spherical shape and concealed within the bath bomb. Carefully detach and assemble these tiny parts to complete the remarkably detailed GINN and ZONO. You can even enjoy an aquatic battle while bathing, but remember to retrieve them afterward – don't let them get sucked into the drain!
