The long-awaited next entry in the high-end 『MGEX』 Gunpla series from the Bandai Spirits Hobby Division has finally been revealed! Full details for the "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam" are now live, with the kit scheduled to hit shelves on November 19, 2022.
First teased back in February, the "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam" is built around the theme of "the most extreme metallic expression in Gunpla history." This stunning recreation of Kira Yamato's iconic mobile suit from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny" utilizes a multi-layered approach to achieve its brilliant golden inner frame. The kit employs three different types of gold plating (red gold, white gold, and yellow gold), two varieties of metallic injection plastic, and photo-etched metal stickers to create a finish that looks and feels like real, multi-faceted metal. The outer armor has also been designed with wider gaps and incorporates clear red parts to further enhance the visibility of the intricate inner frame.
Beyond the incredible finish, today's reveal also highlights another key feature: "the most complex interlocking frame gimmicks in Master Grade history." Building upon the advanced articulation technology developed for the MG and RG lines, the "MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam" boasts a flexible 3-axis neck joint, independent articulation in the forearms and feet, and interlocking armor mechanisms in the waist and legs for incredibly natural posing.
The kit features even more dramatic armor-expanding gimmicks in the skirt armor, shoulder armor, calf thrusters, and its signature "Super DRAGOON" mobile weapon wings, all of which slide open to reveal the gleaming gold frame within. For armaments, the kit faithfully reproduces the combination gimmick that merges its two High-Energy Beam Rifles into a Long-Range Beam Rifle, as well as the deployment and extension of the hip-mounted "Xiphias 3" Rail Cannons. All eight of its DRAGOONs can be detached and displayed as if deployed, and the kit also includes effect parts for its beam sabers and beam shields.
