Kotobukiya, the Japanese toy company behind the "Megami Device" plastic model kit series that combines mecha and bishojo elements, today unveiled the prototype for a new color variant, the "Megami Device Susanoo Aoi Honoo." This reveal follows the original Megami Device Susanoo, with pre-orders for the new version expected to open in early July 2022.

Designed by artist Nidy-2D-, the Megami Device Susanoo is a next-generation Megami Device model, serving as the successor to the Asra series. Named after the deity from Japanese mythology who slew the Yamata no Orochi, Susanoo features a larger, newly designed body and extensive weaponry. It boasts exceptional close-to-mid-range combat capabilities, high mobility, and robust defensive armor. Its primary weapon, the Ama-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, can transform into multiple forms. Unlike previous "Megami Device" kits, which typically stand around 15 cm tall and consist of 201–400 parts, Susanoo utilizes a new Machineca body with proportions re-adjusted by sculptor Masaki Apsy, resulting in an impressive 20 cm height and a substantial 401–600 parts.

The new color variant, "Megami Device Susanoo Aoi Honoo," sports a fresh blue and gold armor scheme. It also includes newly sculpted parts that create dynamic flame effects, enveloping the entire body. While the base Susanoo model is already quite substantial, these added effects make it even more imposing, giving it a significantly more flamboyant appearance compared to the original. Whether this aesthetic appeals to everyone will be a matter of personal taste. Further details are expected to be announced at a later date.
