Japanese model maker Kaiyodo is set to release a new addition to its ARTPLA capsule plastic model kit series. Alongside the previously announced standard "Laid-Back Camp" set, they will also launch the "Laid-Back Camp Outdoor Activities Club Camping Set," both scheduled for July 2022.
The "ARTPLA" series comprises unpainted plastic model kits sold as capsule toys. It embodies Kaiyodo's long-standing philosophy of "modeling as art" and draws inspiration from the PLAMOKEI (プラモケイ) GK kit series that captivated Japanese modelers in the 1980s. Kaiyodo aims for ARTPLA to bridge the company's past, present, and future. Beyond current popular anime and game themes, the series will also revive classic Kaiyodo GK masterpieces. In the future, ARTPLA plans to expand its offerings like a museum or art gallery, encompassing a vast array of subjects such as Buddhist statues, sci-fi mecha, characters, animals, dinosaurs, art, yokai, tanks, and cultural artifacts.
The "Laid-Back Camp Outdoor Activities Club Camping Set" is also crafted in 1/24 scale, featuring entirely new character sculpts and camping accessories compared to the standard edition. Kagamihara Nadeshiko, Shima Rin, Ōgaki Chiaki, and Inuyama Aoi sport fresh outfits and poses. Crucially, the set adds Saitō Ena and her beloved dog Chikuwa, who join the camping adventures mid-story, allowing fans to recreate a new scene with all five main characters together!
This set includes a significant number of larger camping items, such as a tent, sleeping bags, a bicycle, and a five-person dining table and chair set – luxurious gear that would be impossible for the Outdoor Activities Club's budget! When combined with the standard edition, collectors can create an even more expansive camping diorama. The product also comes with water-slide decals for crafting each character's facial expressions.
