Japanese model tool brand Mr.HOBBY, from GSI Creos, showcased several new products, including the popular "Gundam Marker" and "HUG Water-Based Paint" series, at the 60th Shizuoka Hobby Show, which began on the 11th of this month.
For the Gundam Marker EX line, three new polarized pigment products were announced: "Moonlight Butterfly Polarized Silver," "TRANS-AM Polarized Red," and "MEPE Polarized Yellow." In addition to their pearlescent hues, these markers produce brilliant iridescent effects when applied to glossy surfaces, and the pigment particles are less likely to flake off after drying. Fully painted Turn A Gundam, 00 Gundam, and F91 Gundam models were also displayed at the venue.
Beyond Gunpla-specific colors, GSI Creos also plans to release dedicated markers for BANDAI SPIRITS' original model kit lines, "30 MINUTES MISSIONS" and "30 MINUTES SISTERS." The first wave for 30MM, launching in July 2022, is designed for frames and weapons and includes six colors: Mechanical Gray, Gold, Silver, Black, Gunmetal, and Metallic Green. The second wave is slated for release this winter.
Additionally, two new colors were showcased for the "Water-Based Gundam SEED Destiny Colors" line, themed after "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny." These include "Concert Pink," designed for Meer Campbell's Zaku Warrior (Live Concert Ver.) used on her concert stage, and "Heine's Custom Orange," representing the signature color of Heine Westenfluss's mobile suit, voiced by Takanori Nishikawa.
Regarding the highly popular metallic color series, the exhibition featured the still-under-development "Water-Based Super Pure Silver (Provisional Name)," which boasts a higher gloss finish compared to the previously released H8 Water-Based Silver. Also shown was the "ULTRA METALLIC" series, designed to offer both metallic texture and translucency when thinly sprayed onto clear materials. Release dates for these are yet to be determined.
