Kotobukiya Reveals Frame Arms Kenshin, Kunio Okawara's Second Samurai-Inspired Mecha!

Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya has officially unveiled the next entry in its popular original plastic model kit series, Frame Arms. Following the release of the Shingen, legendary mecha designer Kunio Okawara returns with his second creation for the line, the "Kenshin," scheduled to launch in October 2022.

Continuing the theme of Japan's Warring States period, Okawara's latest design draws inspiration from the great daimyo Uesugi Kenshin, the "Dragon of Echigo." This new unit serves as a rival to the first release, Shingen, which was based on Takeda Shingen, the "Tiger of Kai." The design of the "FRAME ARMS Kenshin" masterfully integrates the signature features of Uesugi Kenshin's historical armor into a robotic form.

The "FRAME ARMS Kenshin" utilizes the Renewal Ver. of the Frame Architect and features parts molded in multiple colors to recreate its Japanese armor-style exterior. The head can be assembled with either a monk's hood or a helmet. A unique articulation gimmick allows the shoulder shields to split and expand, creating more variation in the mecha's silhouette. The included water-slide decals can be used to apply the "毘" (Bi) kanji, Kenshin's famous sigil, to the shields and knees. The kit's armaments include a naginata, two types of Japanese swords, and a gunbai war fan.

Additionally, an exclusive version available through the official KOTOBUKIYA SHOP will come with an extra "Naginata + Gunbai" set as a bonus!
