Bandai Candy, the shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., recently announced its ambitious "100 NEXT EVOLUTION" project, celebrating 100 releases in the popular "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP) assembly model series. Alongside this milestone, the company unveiled a brand-new sub-series: "SMP Kit Makes Pose," with its inaugural product set for a reveal in the near future.
The name "Kit Makes Pose" cleverly plays on two meanings: a kit that creates dynamic action, and the ability to strike a decisive, signature pose. Furthermore, the SMP acronym itself has been reinterpreted to stand for "S"cene (scene reproduction), "M"otion (articulation), and "P"roportion (sculpt). This new line is designed as an articulated assembly model series specifically engineered to deliver "human-like articulation."
The silhouette for the first product in the series has been revealed as none other than Mega Man, the protagonist from the beloved "Mega Man Battle Network" video game series, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Unlike previous SMP releases that often focused on the combination and transformation gimmicks of massive robots, this new series will prioritize designing figures with exceptional character articulation. Future releases are expected to feature characters from a wide range of categories, including anime, tokusatsu, and video games.
