Tamashii Nations, the collectors division of Bandai Spirits, has just announced the latest entry in its popular die-cast figure line, Soul of Chogokin: the GX-102 Mazinkaiser SKL, scheduled for release in October 2022.
A departure from the previous Mazinkaiser OVA, "Mazinkaiser SKL" features a fresh cast of characters, a new mecha design, and an original story. The plot follows the WSO's elite Skull Force as they intervene in a three-way power struggle on Machine Island, siding with the Aira Army against the forces of Kiba and Garan.
Piloted by the duo Ken Kaido and Ryo Magami, who famously declare "We are Hell!", the super robot Mazinkaiser SKL is a force that surpasses both gods and demons. Its design is heavily themed with skull motifs and is equipped with two distinct weapon systems to match its pilots' skills: the massive, extendable "Ganzantō" greatsword for Ken Kaido's melee prowess, and the dual "Breast Triggers" pistols—which can combine into a giant axe—for Ryo Magami's pinpoint marksmanship.
The Soul of Chogokin Mazinkaiser SKL utilizes a combination of die-cast parts and a heavy, metallic paint finish to perfectly replicate the mecha's powerful, muscular armor design. It also boasts exceptional articulation, allowing for dynamic combat poses like two-handed sword grips and kneeling stances. The head-docking Skull Pilder comes with a separate flight mode version, and the faceplate can be swapped out for a battle-damaged, single-eyed look!
For accessories, the figure can be draped in a multi-piece, battle-damaged cape. Its signature weapon, the imposing "Ganzantō," is nearly as large as the figure itself and is crafted with numerous chrome-plated parts. It can be mounted on the back or displayed plunged into a special rock-formation base. The "Breast Triggers" on its chest can be detached and wielded as dual pistols, just like in the anime. A separate, dedicated accessory is included to represent their combined Breast Tomahawk form, perfect for recreating savage battle scenes!
