Japanese toy maker Good Smile Company’s best-selling Nendoroid figure series is adding a new release from the romantic comedy manga and anime Love After World Domination: a Nendoroid of the heroine Desumi Magahara! The figure is scheduled for release in January 2023.
Love After World Domination began serialization in Monthly Shonen Magazine in November 2019, with its TV anime adaptation premiering in April 2022. Written by Hiroshi Noda and illustrated by Takahiro Wakamatsu, the series is a youth romantic comedy packed with tokusatsu and Super Sentai-inspired elements. The story follows Fudo Aikawa, the Red Gelato and leader of the superhero team “Gelato 5.” After meeting Desumi Magahara, a member of the secret society Gekko known by her alias “Reaper Princess,” Fudo falls for her at first sight. Once he confesses his feelings, the two secretly begin dating. But since they stand on opposite sides of the hero-villain divide, their romance soon turns into a string of chaotic mishaps, awkward close calls, and emotional trials.
In the series, Desumi Magahara is one of Gekko’s key executives and a formidable fighter. She usually appears in a revealing combat outfit and wears a skull-like mask, giving off a fearsome villainess vibe. Underneath that intimidating look, however, she is actually just an ordinary high school girl. When Fudo first confesses to her, she is completely flustered and has no idea how to react. With zero dating experience, she decides to give the relationship a try—and gradually falls more and more for Fudo. She also inherited her monstrous strength from her mother, slips into a Hakata dialect when she gets carried away in conversation, and is surprisingly good at handicrafts.
This Nendoroid version of Desumi Magahara faithfully recreates her Reaper Princess look from the series, complete with her cape. The figure comes with three interchangeable face plates: a standard face, a smiling face, and a bashful face. It also includes a removable mask, a smartphone part used to contact Fudo, and the flail she wields in battle. The final result is both lively and irresistibly cute.
